Is your life going down the drain? Do you feel like you’re heading for the scrap heap? Well cheer up, you can always go and live in a bin.
Timber, stainless steel, a toilet, bits of granite … you can find just about anything in a bin these days, including kitchen sinks, but they usually aren’t installed and fully functional.
Californian artist Gregory Kloehn has taken the idea of saving useable materials that normally end up in the bin to extremes: he aims to save the bins themselves.
He has installed all the basics of a comfy and functional home inside the ubiquitous American "dumpster".
Kloehn calls it a "High End Dumpster Home" and assures us that "the future of urban living has arrived!"
Other websites have jumped on this unusual project, but some have felt in necessary to note that the conversion is from dumpster to a ONE-room home.
Really? Surely, if he’d been truly creative and enterprising, he could have crammed at least another room or two in there.
